Dix Park Mural Activations

Get Well Soon is a temporary, public art installation by artist Lamar Whidbee, located on the Spruill Building.

Deadline to apply: January 22, by 11:59 p.m.

The City of Raleigh seeks to hire three to four artists or artist teams to create temporary large-scale murals and/or wall-based installations at Dix Park. As part of the park's ongoing renovation, several buildings have been decommissioned and their first-floor windows boarded up. Artists are asked to envision how they might create bold and impactful murals or wall-based installations that could cover both the facades and boarded-up windows of these buildings. Each artist/artist team will receive $20,000 to create a mural or installation.

Fayetteville Street Viewshed Artists

“Color Jam” by artist Jessica Stockholder, located in Houston, TX, is an example of an artistic viewshed intervention.

Deadline to apply: February 23, by 11:59 p.m.

The City of Raleigh seeks to hire up to four (4) Viewshed Artists to install immersive artwork environments on Fayetteville Street. Completed projects will enhance the existing built environment through a combination of artworks and creative interventions to create a visually distinctive environment. Viewsheds will be assigned to selected artists and have project budgets ranging from $25,000 to $140,000. Up to eight (8) semi-finalists will be selected to create a preliminary proposal for a viewshed and awarded an honorarium of $800. Awardees will be selected based on the preliminary proposal ideas and assigned their location.

Fayetteville Street Wayfinding/Seating Artist

The City of Raleigh seeks to hire an artist or artist team to create artistic wayfinding and interactive seating on Fayetteville Street. The project has a budget of $300,000 and is open to artists who live in the United States. The selected artist/team will be tasked with creating iconic artwork that both celebrates Raleigh, fosters engaging moments, and helps citizens and visitors navigate to major attractions downtown. Up to three (3) semi-finalists will be selected to create a preliminary proposal for wayfinding/seating and receive an honorarium of $800. The awardee will be selected based on their proposal idea.

SEEK Raleigh

SEEK Raleigh is an experimental public art program by Raleigh Arts that engages the community through public art in City of Raleigh Parks, greenways, and/or community spaces. Propose a public art project that you would like to create. This annual call is juried in late Spring.

Block2 Gallery Video Series

Raleigh Art's Block2 Gallery is an outdoor visual platform for video, digital, and new media artists. Viewed after dark, the changing videos aim to expand a viewer's notion of visual art and introduce the community to new artists, ideas, and experimental mediums.
